Introducing Dynamic Column Headers in Zebra BI Tables

This release introduces one of the most requested features in Zebra BI Tables: dynamic column headers. You can now combine static text with live measure values or names, making reports more descriptive, context-aware, and easier to interpret.

Together with extended row-level calculations, this update brings even more flexibility and clarity to your Power BI reports.

Context-aware reporting

Dynamic column headers let you display measure names or values directly in your headers. For example, "AC" could automatically become "AC for Aug 25".

This means your users always see exactly which metric or version they’re analyzing, reducing the chance of confusion or misinterpretation.

Why it matters? 🎯

  • Clarity at a glance with descriptive, accurate headers
  • Less time explaining which numbers belong where

  • Fewer reporting errors and questions from end-users

Faster report design

Dynamic column headers mirror the ease of use found in dynamic titles. With measure references and autocomplete built right in, you can set up descriptive headers in seconds without needing to use the field parameters.

The result: you’ll spend less time configuring your visuals and more time driving insights. 🤩

Simplify reporting workflows

Dynamic column headers replace the need for complex parameter setups while remaining backward compatible. You get:

  • Simpler model and visual setup
  • More consistent reports across teams
  • A scalable way to handle multiple measures or versions

Reduce manual calculations

This is one for our advanced users!

You can now define multiple calculations per row directly in your Power BI data model by combining notations such as -=, -/, or -=/.

This allows you to apply combinations like Invert + Result + Skip in one go, giving you even greater control over report logic.

Why it matters? 🎯

  • Consistency: Define calculation rules once in the data model, apply them everywhere

  • Efficiency: Eliminate repetitive manual setup in visuals

  • Flexibility: Use any combination of invert, result, and skip without worrying about order
