Zebra BI Named to Future 100 Slovenia

By Pia Rutar • Last updated

Zebra BI has been named to Future 100 Slovenia, the inaugural list of one hundred Slovenian companies identified as having the capacity to grow beyond their home market. The list was published on 31 August in Bled.

Future 100 Slovenia is the first national implementation of the Future 500 Index. According to the initiative, Slovenia is the first country in which the index has been applied in full: "Slovenia is not a trial run. It is the first full application of the methodology, and the reference point for every edition that follows."

Selection was independent and entirely data-driven. No company applied and none was invited. The research screened more than 203,000 Slovenian companies and assessed the shortlist against nineteen indicators across seven weighted dimensions. One hundred companies were named, published in alphabetical order with no ranking.

How the 100 were chosen

The methodology was developed by an international research group drawing on researchers from Harvard, Oxford and Edinburgh. The index is run by IEDC Bled School of Management, with partners including the Atlantic Council and SPIRIT Slovenia.

From the opening screen of more than 203,000 companies, 603 met the OECD definition of a high-growth firm. Those 603 were then assessed across seven weighted dimensions and nineteen indicators, covering productivity, financial strength, export presence, R&D investment, patents, governance and environmental reporting. A thirteen-member expert panel reviewed the outcome before the final hundred were confirmed.

Only one of the nineteen indicators is growth. The methodology is direct about why:

Growth is one indicator out of nineteen. The other eighteen ask a harder question: can this company keep growing, and carry that growth onto larger and international markets?

That is a harder test than a growth rate, and a more useful one. It asks whether a company exports, whether it puts money back into research, and whether it is governed in a way that survives getting bigger.

This kind of independent external recognition is fantastic and highlights the great work we are doing here. The assessment started from public data, looked at how the company is actually run, and arrived at us on its own. That is the work of the people who built it, not of a good quarter.

How Zebra BI got to where it is today

Zebra BI was founded in Ljubljana in 2014, and the product found demand well beyond Slovenia early. DACH became a first stronghold, where IBCS-compliant reporting was already a serious requirement in finance and banking. From there it spread to multinationals that needed one reporting language across every market they operate in, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Nestlé among them. North America and DACH are core markets today, and the software is used in more than 3,000 companies across 115 countries.

This is not the first time that trajectory has been noticed from the outside. Zebra BI has appeared three times on the Financial Times' FT1000, its ranking of Europe's fastest-growing companies, most recently in 2025. In June 2023 the Slovenian business daily Finance ranked Zebra BI first among the country's top fifty IT companies.

What is different about Future 100 Slovenia is that growth is the smaller part of what was measured.

Recognition like this describes a company from the outside. From the inside, it is customers who put these tools in front of real decisions, partners who carry them further, and a team that keeps the standard where it is. Our thanks to all three.

We built Zebra BI around a simple belief: people should be able to understand their business quickly and make better decisions from the numbers in front of them. I’m especially proud to see our customers, from small businesses to some of the world’s largest organizations, across industries from manufacturing and retail to finance, healthcare and technology, in more than 115 countries, use Zebra BI and Zebra AI to turn complex data into tangible actions that move their businesses forward.

Our financial landing page at KPN is completely based on the sales dashboard template. We also use a copy of the consolidated financials. The templates of Zebra BI are providing us with a lot of inspiration, and we don't "need to invent the wheel" again 😉
